O meu nome é Malik e tenho 39 anos. Nasci no Afeganistão. A minha religião é diferente da religião principal do Afeganistão.

My name is Malik and I am 39 years old. I was born in Afghanistan. My religion is different from the main religion in Afghanistan.

Desde há muitos anos que as pessoas que pertencem à minha religião têm sido perseguidas. Isso tem sido muito difícil para a minha família.

For many years, people who belong to my religion have been persecuted. This has been very difficult for my family.

Há alguns anos, houve uma guerra. Tive medo de ser morto. Deixei a minha família para ir para a Europa e começar uma nova vida.

A few years ago there was a war. I was afraid I would be killed. I left my family to go to Europe and start a new life.

Caminhei durante muitos quilómetros. Por vezes, não tinha comida e não tinha onde ficar. Algumas das pessoas com quem viajei morreram.

I walked for many kilometres. Sometimes I had no food and nowhere to stay. Some of the people I travelled with died.

Finalmente, cheguei. Conheci algumas pessoas do meu próprio país que me ajudaram. Não sei o que teria feito sem elas.

Finally I arrived. I met some people from my own country who helped me. I do not know what I would have done without them.

Comecei a aprender a língua, mas foi difícil. Eu sabia que falar a língua era importante para conseguir um emprego.

I started to learn the language, but it was hard. I knew that speaking the language was important to get a job.

Estudei durante vários anos para aprender a língua. Foi difícil, mas eu gosto de aprender coisas novas.

I studied for several years, at first to learn the language. It was hard, but I enjoy learning new things.

Depois de estudar, comecei a trabalhar. Primeiro trabalhei num restaurante, e depois tornei-me professor porque quero ajudar outras pessoas.

After studying I started working. First I worked in a restaurant, and then I became a teacher because I want to help others.

Espero voltar um dia ao Afeganistão. Muitas pessoas precisam de ajuda lá e eu quero ajudá-las.

I hope to go back to Afghanistan one day. Many people there need help, and I want to help them.
