Tom iliga ayaa xanuunaya. Iligkiisu aad buu u xanuunayaa.

Tom has a toothache. His tooth hurts very much.


A man holding his hand to the side of his face and thinking about medicine.

Wuxuu u baahan yahay inuu arko dhakhtarka ilkaha, laakiin marka hore wuxuu u baahan yahay daawo xanuun baabi’iye ah.

He needs to see his dentist, but first he needs something for the pain.


A man driving to a pharmacy.

Wuxuu u socdaa farmaysiga ugu dhow.

He drives to the nearest pharmacy.


A man talking to a pharmacist.

“Iliga ayaa ixanuunaya,” ayuu yidhi. “Wax ma u haysaan taas?”

“I have a toothache,” he says. “Do you have anything for that?”


A pharmacist offering painkillers.

“Haa, waa kuwan qaar ka mid ah xanuun baabi’iyaha. Uma baahnid warqad dhakhtar kuu qoray.”

“Yes, here are some painkillers. You don’t need a prescription for these.”


A man asking for the price to a pharmacist who is handing him painkillers.

“Mahadsanid, imisa ayay isku noqonayaan?”

“Thank you. How much do they cost?”


A pharmacist saying the price and recommending seeing a dentist.

“Waxay isku noqonayaan sagaal euro, laakiin waa inaad aragto dhakhtarka ilkaha.”

“They cost nine euros. But you should see a dentist.”

“Okay, I will call my dentist tomorrow morning.”

“Haddii aad u baahan tahay daawo ka xoog badan, waxaad u baahan doontaa inaad ka hesho warqad dhakhtar ilkeed ama dhakhtarkaaga.”

“If you need stronger medicine, you will need to get a prescription from your dentist or doctor.”
